A POM bushing is a self-lubricating multilayer bushing with a unique construction, making it perfect for harsh and hard to maintain environments.
Layers of a POM Bushing:
- Steel Outer Ring: The structural layer that allows for high load and press fit into sheaves.
- Bronze Inner Layer: Thermal conductive layer to dissipate heat during operation.
- Polyoxymethylene (POM) Inner Layer: A low friction, high wear resistance, and chemically stable coating.
Note the dimple pattern in the POM layer in the picture below The depressions act as grease reservoirs to allow these bushings to operate a very long time with minimal lubrication.
